Why do I set a time limit for my services during labor and birth?
However much I want to be there for your entire labor, I physically, emotionally and mentally can not. It took one time of being at a labor for over 24 hours, I realized it's not fair to the birthing person/mom to have an overtired doula. It's my job to be completely present, and after 15 hours, I am not. The hourly rate pays for another doula to come in and give you their full attention and help you have a positive, amazing birth. I can tell you it's very rare my time exceeds 15 hours (I can count on one hand out of 113's births that it's happened). Labor happens in such a way that by the time you are ready for me, typically you are in active labor, which between that and birth, often lasts less than 15 hours.
